Reasons For Recall
The engine cooling tan could be blocked or freeze to the fan shroud due to accumulation of ice, snow and slush when the car is operated during certain
combinations of heavy snows, high winds and below freezing temperatures. If either the fan motor is automatically actuated (to lower the engine coolant
temperature) or the windshield defroster is manually activated while the engine cooling fan is frozen to the shroud, the engine cooling fan motor and its
wiring may overheat. In some cases a tire could result.
Service Action
To correct this condition, dealers are to install a jumper harness assembly which incorporates a 30 amp in-line circuit breaker in the cooling fan motor
circuit.
If an owner of one of these vehicles which is not listed in OASIS believes his/her vehicle should have been included, dealers are to contact their regional
office for approval and submit the claim under this program to obtain reimbursement.
