The FF Taurus fuel tank cannot be drained through the fuel tank filler pipe. A special screen is installed in the fuel tank filler pipe to prevent siphoning
of fuel through the fuel tank filler pipe. The FF Taurus fuel tank is equipped with a drain tube connected to the fuel tank sending unit and pump located
on the right hand side of the vehicle. The drain tube has a quick disconnect for this purpose (Figure 1). It is not necessary to lower the fuel tank to drain
the system.

CAUTION:

Do not drain or store methanol fuel into any unleaded gasoline tanker other than Rotunda Fuel Storage Tanker and Adapter Hose 034-00020 or
equivalent. Damage to the fuel tanker pump and control valve seals may occur.

Drain the system as follows:

1.

Depressurize fuel system as outlined above.

2.

Remove foam cover and protective rubber cover from drain tube.

3.

Connect drain tube (Fig. 1) quick disconnect fitting to Rotunda Fuel Storage Tanker and Adapter Hose 034-00020 or equivalent. Drain fuel from
fuel tank.

FUEL PUMP/SENDER REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES

Refer to the 1993 Taurus Service Manual, Section 10-01 for the fuel pump/sender assembly replacement procedures.

Ford Motor Company is providing a no-charge Service Program, Number 93B26, to owners of certain 1993 Taurus Flexible Fuel (FFV) Vehicles.

REASON FOR THIS PROGRAM
On some of these cars the fuel gauge may become erratic and eventually "peg" at "F" between 5,000 and 20,000 miles of vehicle operation. This
condition is due to the inadvertent use of lead solder on a pump/sender assembly connection which can be damaged by methanol fuel.

NO COST SERVICE
At no charge to you, your dealer will install a new fuel pump/sender assembly on your car. This no charge service is available through the 36/36
bumper-to-bumper warranty period, or through September 30, 1994, whichever provides greater coverage.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
The time needed for this service is about two hours. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your car for one full working day.
