Blend Door Actuator: Service and Repair
Blend Door Motor

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Loosen the instrument panel and pull it back from the cowl.
3. Remove the A/C electronic door actuator motor electrical connector from the bracket on the A/C evaporator housing.

4. Remove the three A/C electronic door actuator motor retaining screws.
5. Lift the A/C electronic door actuator motor vertically approximately 12 mm (1/2 inch) to disengage it from the bracket and the actuator shaft, then

pull the A/C electronic door actuator motor back toward the passenger compartment.

NOTE:  The mounting bracket remains in place on the A/C evaporator housing.

INSTALLATION

1. Insert the A/C electronic door actuator motor horizontally over the actuator bracket on the A/C evaporator housing.
2. Insert the actuator shaft into the A/C air temperature control door (Manually moving the A/C air temperature control door will help engage the

shaft.)

3. Attach the actuator bracket with the three retaining screws.
4. Attach the actuator electrical connector to the bracket on the A/C evaporator housing.
5. Install the instrument panel.
6. Connect the battery ground cable.

NOTE:  On vehicles equipped with Electronic Engine Control (EEC), when the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal
drive symptoms may occur while the EEC processor relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn
the strategy.

NOTE:  After replacement of the A/C evaporator housing, the system MUST BE RECALIBRATED for proper operation. To recalibrate,
disconnect the positive (+) lead from the battery terminal. After 30 seconds, reconnect the terminal. Calibration will be performed automatically
when the EATC control assembly is energized.
