WIRING - LOOSE CONNECTION AT THE GENERATOR - DISCHARGING BATTERY - SHO 3.2L, AUTOMATIC
FORD:
1993-94 TAURUS SHO
ISSUE:
Some SHO model alternators may not charge properly, resulting in a "no start" concern. This is due to the wiring assembly to the generator, being
trapped between the RH radiator brace and alternator pulley. As the engine shifts, the wiring assembly "tugs" at the eyelet terminal connection at the
generator. This loosens the connection between the wiring assembly and the generator eyelet. This causes the generator to not charge the battery.
ACTION:
Secure and inspect all wire connections of battery and generator. If terminals and/or wires are damaged, replace the wiring assembly. This will return the
charging system to its intended state. Refer to the following wiring assembly procedures for service details.
SERVICE PROCEDURES FOR INSTALLING WIRING ASSEMBLY
1.
Disconnect the positive and negative battery cables. (Figure 1)
2.
Remove battery and battery tray (three (3) bolts). Refer to 1993 or 1994 Taurus/Sable Service Manual, Sections 14-01-03 and 14-01-04.
