ISSUE:
Coolant may leak from the head gaskets and/or the vehicle may overheat. There may also be concerns of reduced heater output due to low coolant levels.
This may be caused by insufficient sealing of the head gaskets.
ACTION:
Replace the head gaskets and head bolts. The revised head gaskets and bolts provide improved sealing capability and higher clamping force between the
cylinder head and block. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

Service Procedure
1.
Verify coolant loss is due to leakage past the head gasket following the procedure outlined in Section 03-03 of the appropriate Service Manual.
2.
Remove cylinder head and clean gasket surface following the procedure outlined in Section 03-01 of the appropriate Service Manual.
3.
Check cylinder head flatness following the procedure outlined in Section 03-00 of the appropriate Service Manual.
4.
Replace the cylinder head gaskets and cylinder head bolts.
