Headlamp Dimmer Switch: Service and Repair
1.
On models equipped with airbag, disarm airbag system as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM
DISARMING.

On all models, disconnect battery ground cable.
3.
On models with tilt steering column, move column to lowest position and remove tilt lever attaching screw and the lever.

Rotate ignition switch to the Run position, then working through steering column lower shroud, Fig. 3, depress lock cylinder retaining pin with
suitable 1/8 inch drill.
5.
Pull ignition lock cylinder from housing.
6.
Remove upper and lower steering column shrouds.
7.
Remove wiring harness retainer, then the three multi-function switch wiring connectors.
8.
Remove multi-function switch attaching screws, then disengage switch from casting and remove.
9.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque multi-function attaching screws to 18-27 inch lbs.
b. Torque tilt lever attaching screw (if equipped) to 6-8.5 inch lbs.
c. On models equipped with airbag, reactivate airbag system as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM
DISARMING.
