IDLE THROUGH - 3.0L "SHO" - AT ALL ENGINE TEMPERATURES - VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 8/01/90
FORD:
1989 TAURUS
ISSUE:
A rough idle may occur it all engine temperatures with VIP test codes indicating a malfunction of any or all of the following sensors...

Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor (HEGO)
^
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
^
Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT)
^
Knock Sensor (KCS).
This condition may be caused by oversized or loose female terminals in the (-14A464-) wiring connector.
ACTION:
Perform normal EEC-IV system diagnostics, inspect the (-14A464-) wiring connector for oversized female terminals and, if required, install new
terminals. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1.
Refer to the EEC-IV Quick Test in the 1989 Engine/Emissions Diagnosis Shop Manual, Volume H.
a.
Perform normal EEC-IV system diagnostics to determine if the HEGO, TPS, ECT and KCS sensors are functioning correctly.
b.
If no evidence of sensor failure is found, proceed to Step # 2.
