ISSUE:
The 1996 AX4S transaxles contain an elastomeric gasket for the main control cover and bottom pan. This unique gasket will be used for servicing past
model vehicles if case and/or chain cover replacement is necessary. This gasket is unique to the previously designed cork-style gasket, has improved
durability and sealing capability, and is reusable. A unique case and chain cover are required due to the main control cover and bottom pan retaining bolt
size change from 8 mm to 6 mm. In addition, a unique filter and seal assembly are required due to a deeper bottom pan. The transaxle case and chain
cover will be serviced as a kit that will include all necessary components.
ACTION:
If replacement of the chain cover and/or case is necessary on a transaxle containing a cork-style main control cover and bottom pan gasket, service with a
Case and/or Chain Cover Service Kit.
The Chain Cover Service Kit (-7G188-) contains the following:

One (1) Main Control Cover
^
Twelve (12) Main Control Cover Retaining Bolts
^
One (1) Main Control Cover Gasket (Elastomeric)
^
One (1) # 1 Thrust Washer
The Case Service kit (-7005-) contains the following:

One (1) Bottom Pan and Magnet
^
Seventeen (17) Bottom Pan Retaining Bolts
^
One (1) Bottom Pan Gasket (Elastomeric)

One (1) Filter and Seal Assembly

One (1) # 2 Thrust Washer

One (1) Reverse Clutch Apply Tube Bracket
NOTE:
THE CORK-STYLE GASKET WILL REMAIN AVAILABLE FOR SERVICING TRANSAXLES CONTAINING A CORK GASKET ON THE
MAIN CONTROL COVER AND BOTTOM PAN.
