18. Attach a restraint system diagnostic tool to the vehicle harness side of the passenger air bag electrical connector.
19. Remove the lower steering column opening cover with reinforcement.

Remove the retaining bolts.

Pull out to release the retaining clips and remove the lower steering column opening cover with reinforcement.
20. Disconnect the four-pin air bag sliding contact electrical connector at the base of the steering column.
21. Attach a restraint system diagnostic tool to the vehicle harness side of the four-pin air bag sliding contact electrical connector.
22. Reconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
23. Prove out the supplemental air bag system. For additional information, refer to Air Bag Systems.
24. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to Battery.
25. Remove the seat backrest. For additional information, refer to Front Seat Backrest-Passenger Side.
