Steering Shaft Coupler: Service and Repair
Removal
1. CAUTION: The steering wheel must be in the locked position, or the lower end of the column wired in such a way that the steering column does
not rotate, resulting in damage to the air bag sliding contact.
Note: Discard the upper and lower intermediate shaft-to-steering column shaft pinch bolts upon removal. Do not reuse; install new bolts.
Remove and discard the upper and lower steering column shaft pinch bolts and remove the coupler.
Installation
1. Using new fasteners, follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
