WARNING: WEAR RUBBER GLOVES DURING THIS STEP. NEUTRAL pH IRON CLEANER USED MAY CAUSE SKIN IRRITATION.
DO NOT add neutral pH iron cleaner to the coolant recovery bottle. Using a funnel, slowly add one (1) bottle of neutral pH iron cleaner
(-19A503-) into the HEATER RETURN HOSE. See Figure 20.

Install the new screw clamp (388788-S). Reconnect the heater return hose to the water pump fitting and tighten the clamp.

Slowly fill the cooling system with water. Squeeze the upper radiator hose to purge air from the system as water is added. The coolant level must
be filled to the top of the clear portion of the coolant recovery bottle to completely clean the coolant recovery bottle.

Start the engine and rev to 2000 RPM for one (1) minute. Do not exceed 2500 RPM.

Check the cooling system for leaks.

Recheck the coolant level. Using water, bring the level to top of the clear portion of the coolant recovery bottle, if necessary.

Install the coolant pressure relief cap.
81.
Run the engine at idle until the upper radiator hose is hot (when the thermostat opens) approximately 12 minutes.

Turn the engine off and let the chemical solution soak for a minimum of thirty (30) minutes, while the engine cools.
83.
WARNING: COOLANT MAY BE HOT. Remove the coolant pressure relief cap.

Partially raise the vehicle.

Remove the radiator draincock.
86.
Completely drain the chemical solution from the cooling system and discard.

Lower the vehicle.

Loosen the screw clamp and disconnect the heater return hose from the water pump fitting.
