Push Rod: Service and Repair
(Part 1 Of 2)
REMOVAL
1. Rotate crankshaft to zero degrees top dead center (0° TDC) on the compression stroke.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable. Refer to Starting and Charging.
3. Remove valve covers. Follow proper procedure.
4. Loosen rocker arm seat retaining bolts enough to allow the rocker arm to be lifted off the push rod and rotated to one side.
CAUTION Identify the position of each push rod. The push rods should be installed in their original position during reassembly.
5. Remove push rods.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Install push rods in their original position.
