Piston Pin: Testing and Inspection
1. Check the outside diameter (OD) of the piston pin and record.
Pin Diameter: 23.162-23.175 mm (0.9119-0.0124 inch).
2. Check the inside diameter (ID) of the pin bore in the piston and record.
3. Check the inside diameter (ID) of the pin bore in the connecting rod and record.
Connecting Rod Piston Pin Bore: 23.105-23.145 mm (0.9096-0.9112 inch).
4. Replace any piston pin or connecting rod that is not within specification.
5. Subtract the piston, piston pin bore from the piston pin diameter. The difference is the clearance.
Clearance: 0.005-0.012 mm (0.0002-0.0005 inch).
6. Subtract the piston pin diameter from the connecting rod piston pin bore diameter. The pin should be the larger of the two measurements. The
difference is the interferance fit. A pressure of 4,000 N (900 lbs.) minimum should be needed to install the pin into the connecting rod.
7. Replace any component that is not within specification.
