Fuel Rail: Description and Operation

WARNING:  Flexible Fuel (FF) vehicles' fuel supply manifold components are strictly methanol and ethanol compatible.  Do not replace with
components not designed for methanol compatibility, or possible damage or personal injury may occur.

PURPOSE

The fuel injection supply manifold delivers high-pressure fuel from the vehicle fuel supply line to the six fuel injectors.

CONSTRUCTION

The fuel injection supply manifold consists of:
-

a single preformed tube or stamping with one fuel injector connector for each fuel injector.

-

a mounting flange for the fuel pressure regulator.

-

a fuel pressure relief valve for diagnostic testing or field service fuel system pressure bleed-down.

-

mounting attachments which locate the fuel injection supply manifold and provide fuel injector retention.
