Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
CAUTION: Syncro Positioning Tool T95T-12200-A (303-529) must be obtained prior to installation of the replacement synchronizer assembly. Failure
to follow this procedure will result in the fuel system being out of time with the engine, possibly causing engine damage.
Camshaft Position Sensor
REMOVAL
CAUTION: Prior to removal of the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor, set cylinder No.1 to zero degrees Top Dead Center (TDC) of compression
stroke. Note the position of the CMP sensor electrical connector. The installation procedure requires that the connector be located in the same
position.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module
(PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
