Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control
Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the strategy.
2. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.
3. Remove CKP sensor retaining bolts and remove sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Make sure sensor mounting surface is clean.
2. Position CKP sensor and install retaining bolts. Tighten to 5-7 Nm (45-61 lb in).
CAUTION: Do not overtighten CKP sensor retaining bolt or damage to sensor may occur.
3. Properly route engine control sensor wiring and connect electrical connector to CKP sensor.
4. Connect battery ground cable.
