Cigarette Lighter: Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the cigar lighter to duplicate the condition.
2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:
Mechanical
-
Damaged cigar lighter socket and retainer.

Damaged cigar lighter knob and element.
Electrical
-
Blown fuse.
-
power distribution box fuse 12 (40A).
-
fuse junction panel fuse 84 (20A).
-
Circuitry open/shorted.
3. If the inspection reveals obvious concerns that can be readily identified, service as required.
4. If the concerns remain after the inspection, determine the symptoms and go to the Symptom Chart. See: Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
