Fuel System Indicator Lamp - Continues to Flash

FUEL SYSTEM INDICATOR LAMP CONTINUES TO FLASH - 2.0L DIESEL

FORD 1984 ESCORT, TEMPO - 2.0L DIESEL

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 LYNX, TOPAZ - 2.0L DIESEL

CALIBRATIONS: Diesel

Continued flash condition may be caused by water and residue present in the conditioner sensor probe after draining system.

Remove the water in fuel sensor probe using the instructions in Section 25-51 of the Shop Manual. Wipe the sensor probe end thoroughly with a clean
dry cloth to remove manufacturing residue which may be present. Re-install sensor probe assembly. Check for proper operation of water-in-fuel warning
system. If warning light continues to flash, proceed with normal diagnosis.
