Vehicles reporting overheating and/or inoperative A/C caused by abraded engine cooling fan feed wire (14289) can be corrected by repairing the
damaged wire assembly and attaching engine cooling fan feed wiring assembly retainer to the engine retainer bracket, using the following procedure
(Figure 4).
1.
Open hood assembly and check to see if wiring assembly retainer (13A506) is attached to existing retainer bracket.
2.
If retainer is detached, check wire assembly (14289) for abrasions. Likewise, check wiring assembly retainer for damage. If retainer is damaged or
missing, replace it (13A506).
3.
If wiring assembly (14289) is abraded, use approximately two (2) feet of electrical tape (C8AZ-19628- D) and repair abraded (exposed wire) area,
as required.
4.
Secure wiring assembly retainer to engine retainer bracket.
