Tempo L4-140 2.3L CFI (1985)

The ISC plunger will retract in 5-15 seconds.
^
Disconnect the ISC motor from the wire harness.
^
Return the ignition key to the "OFF" position.
^
Then remove the jumper wire.
^
Turn the engine "ON".
^
Warm up the engine to Normal Operating Temperature for 2-3 minutes.
^
Turn all accessories off, check the hardstop RPM (cooling fan off) in Neutral (MTX) for proper RPM'S.
(Refer to chart below).

Turn the throttle stop adjusting screw for hardstop adjustment.
^
Turn the engine "OFF".
^
Reconnect the ISC connector.
^
Reconnect the air induction tube (flex tube) completely.
3. Perform the EEC-IV Controlled Idle Learning Procedure

Turn the engine "ON".
^
Turn all accessories "OFF." [With the engine at normal operating temperatures and the transmission in Neutral, idle the engine for 2-3 minutes.]
^
Turn the Air Conditioning "ON" (if applicable) and idle the engine for 2-3 minutes.
^
The controlled idle RPM should be within specifications with air conditioning "OFF" (see chart Exhibit 3, Page 2 of 3).
^
Place a small quantity of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) compound in the idle screw adjusting hole of the throttle body. This space was
previously covered by the tamper resistant cap.
NOTE:
Idle speeds are controlled by EEC-IV processor and idle speed control motor. If the ISC motor system is operating properly, these
speeds are fixed and can not be changed by traditional adjustment techniques.
