ISSUE:
Stalling during decel after the clutch is disengaged and the vehicle is slowing down for a stop or when going into a turn may be caused by the
EEC IV processor. The stalling condition will usually occur during the first two miles of cold driveaway.
ACTION:
To correct this, install a new level EEC IV processor assembly using the following service procedure.
NOTE:
Refer to the following application chart to select the correct new level EEC IV processor assembly for the affected calibration.

1.
Replace the EEC IV processor assembly.
2.
Start and run the engine until it is at full operating temperature (upper radiator hose hot and pressurized). Idle the engine for two minutes with the
transmission in Neutral to learn the Adaptive Idle Speed Control.
3.
Reset the throttle hard stop to specification. Refer to page 24 of TSB 86-19-12 for hard stop specification.
NOTE:
ISC must be fully retracted and electrically disconnected to adjust the hard stop speed.
4.
Perform the EEC IV self-test to make sure the system is operating properly.
NOTE:
If service codes are received from self-test using the 1986 new level processor then the 1986 Diagnostics (base) must be used for pinpoint
tests.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to
the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and coyer it
with a clear plastic decal shield.
