Tempo V6-182 3.0L (1993)
Camshaft: Service and Repair
1.
Remove engine from vehicle and mount in suitable work stand.
2.
Remove front cover and timing chain from engine.
3.
Remove intake manifold and hydraulic valve lifters from engine.
4.
Remove camshaft thrust plate, then carefully pull camshaft from cylinder block. Use caution to avoid damaging bearings, journals and lobes.
5.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque camshaft thrust plate attaching screws to 7 ft lb.
b. Lubricate lifters, lifter bores, rocker arms and pushrods with oil conditioner D9AZ-19579-A or suitable heavy engine oil.
