ISSUE:

The check ball locations and illustrations, as shown by engine application on pages 17-25-82 and 17-25-83 of the 1989 Tempo/Topaz,
Escort Shop Manual, have been revised. The ATX main control assembly uses seven check balls for both 1.9L and 2.3L engine applications.

ACTION:

If service is required, refer to this TSB. This information should be inserted into your 1989 Tempo/Topaz, Escort Shop Manual, pages
17-25-82 and 17-25-83.

Assembly
1.

Position spring retainer washer and cushion spring on piston rod. Install spring and rod assembly in servo piston.

2.

Compress cushion spring, and install retaining clip.
