Screw-in Oil Fill Cap - E7DZ-6766-A

NOTE:

Clean the vane air flow meter after all of the above corrections have been made. Refer to the vane air meter cleaning procedure on this page.

1987 Model Year Vehicles (Early)

1.

Check to see that oil fill in crankcase is not over five (5) quarts (4 quarts plus 1 quart for filter change). If it is overfilled, then the "Max Fill" mark
or wording on the oil dipstick is probably incorrect. Overfilling crankcase will cause oil to be ingested into air intake system. Correct by draining
engine oil and throw away old oil filter. Refill with exactly four (4) quarts plus one (1) quart for filter change.

2.

Install new recalibrated dipstick (E7SZ-6750-B). Refer to TSB 86-10-8.

Vane Air Meter Cleaning Procedure

1.

Remove the vane air meter. Refer to the appropriate Car Shop Manual, Volume D, for the removal and installation procedures.

2.

After the vane air meter has been removed from the vehicle, spray carburetor cleaner (D9AZ- 19579-AA) on a clean cloth and pass the cloth
through the meter to remove as much of the film as possible.

CAUTION: DO NOT spray the carburetor cleaner directly into the vane air meter. This may damage the electronics in the meter.

3.

Reinstall the air vane meter.
