Some confusion may exist in the field on which rear oil pan seal to use. The 3.8L first used an RTV oil pan gasket with a molded rubber rear oil pan seal.
This was replaced with a high swell cork and rubber oil pan gasket and a similar material rear oil pan seal.

The service oil pan gasket kit (E2DZ-6781 -A) should be used on all 3.8L applications. This kit contains the high swell cork pan and rear seal gaskets.

NOTE:

A kit (E3DZ-6781-A) was previously released which had the high swell cork and rubber oil pan gasket, but also had the molded rubber rear
seal. If the molded rear seal is used with the high swell cork, the molded rubber gasket will apply too much pressure on the cork gasket,
causing it to split and leak. This kit (E3DZ-6781-A) has been removed from service stock.

Do not use the molded rubber rear seal with the high swell cork oil pan gasket.
