Thunderbird V6-232 3.8L (1982)
Obtain a Vehicle Emission Control Information Update Label (available at all Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealers) and fill in the appropriate
information.
NOTE:
The customer should retain the removed PCV valve and reverse the above procedures if the vehicle is returned to sea level operation, except
for the aneroid vacuum diaphragm. The new diaphragm is self-compensating for both so. level and high altitude.
Granada, Cougar, T-Bird, XR7 with C-5 Transmission
1.
Move the choke linkage from the standard to the altitude position.
2.
Advance the initial timing 4° from the nominal setting specified on the engine decal.
3.
Remove the PCV valve EV-118 (E1DE-6A666-AA) and replace it with valve EV-76, Part No. D9DZ-6A666-A.
4.
Raise the vehicle.
5.
Remove the transmission vacuum diaphragm attaching bolt, clip and vacuum hose.
6.
Remove and discard the production diaphragm D6AP-7A377-AA and replace it with an altitude compensating diaphragm, Part No. D7DZ-7A377-
A.
NOTE:
Retain the TV rod since it is matched to the case.
7.
Install a new diaphragm attaching clip D8BZ-7FO06-A, the original attaching bolt and torque to specification. Remove the pre-formed elbow from
the vacuum hose and attach the hose to fit (may require a longer length of hose).
8.
Lower the vehicle.
9.
Reset the idle and hi-cam speeds to the decal specifications.
10.
Obtain a Vehicle Emission Control Information Update Label (available at all Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealers) and fill in the appropriate
information.
