Choke loading at cold ambients and/or high curb idle with A/C off may be alleviated by changing the electrical supply to the choke to provide 12 volts.
Calibrations Affected:
2-14X, 2-14W, 2-14H & 2-14J
Inspect the oil pressure switch (9278-top left front of engine). If the switch is a single wire continue with the revision. If the switch is a 3 wire, DO NOT
proceed, the rework will not correct the concern.

For both Canadian and altitude vehicles, replace the oil pressure switch with E0AZ-9278-A (3 wire). With a 1-1/16" socket, install the switch and
torque to 8-18 ft.lbs.

Canadian vehicles - replace the engine wiring harness with E2DZ-14289-U (A/C) and E2DZ- 14289-V (non A/C).

Altitude vehicles only - replace the engine wiring harness with E2DZ-14289-T (A/C) and E2DZ-14289-S (non A/C).

Canadian and altitude (all) - replace the 14305 alternator rectifier wiring assembly with E2DZ-14305-
C.
The original wiring assembly provided 7.2V to the choke. This new wiring assembly provides direct 12 V feed to the choke and interconnects
to the engine compartment headlight wiring assembly.
5.
Verify engine A/C off - on speeds to the specification on the engine decal.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to
the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it
with a clear plastic decal shield.
