Thunderbird V8-281 4.6L SOHC (1994)
REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.
Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs by grasping the boot and twisting slightly in both directions to free it.
CAUTION: Do not pull on the wire as it may separate from the connector inside the boot.
3.
Disconnect the wire from the coil pack by squeezing the locking tabs and twisting while pulling upward.
4.
Remove the three wire tray retainer clips, open the wire separators and remove the spark plug wires.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Proper installation of spark plug wires is critical to vehicle operation. If one spark plug wire is not properly installed on either the
spark plug or ignition coil, both spark plugs connected to that coil may not fire under load.

Whenever a high tension wire is removed for any reason from a spark plug or ignition coil, or a new high tension wire is installed, Silicone
Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A or equivalent must be applied to the boot prior to installation. Using a small, clean tool, coat the entire
interior surface of the boot with the Silicone Dielectric Compound.
2.
Install each wire to the proper terminal on the coil pack. The terminals on the coil pack are numbered. Make sure that the boots are fully seated
and that both coil boot locking tabs are engaged.
3.
Route the wires through the wire tray and close the retainer clips.
4.
Connect the wires to the spark plugs.
NOTE: The spark plug boots must be positioned 45 degrees from crankshaft centerline (outboard and forward) to make sure the boot is fully
seated.
