Thunderbird V8-302 5.0L HO (1992)
2. If original spring was broken, compress new spring in Spring Compressor or equivalent and install three spring cages in positions shown under
Removal, Step 5. If original length of spring is not known, such as when replacing a broken spring, compress spring to approximately 267mm
(10.5 inches) overall length (not including rubber insulators).
NOTE: Compress spring with insulators installed to prevent plates from slipping.
3. Install spring insulators, if removed.
4. Install spring, with cages in place, onto upper and lower control arm seats.
NOTE: Short cage (without adjuster) must be inboard. Spring pigtails may be in any position.
5. Position two jackstands under front bumper reinforcement to prevent rear of vehicle lifting off hoist.
6. Position jack under lower control arm and raise lower control arm up to knuckle bores. Ensure spring seats properly. Install bolts and nuts
attaching lower control arm to knuckle and tighten bolts to 160-200 N-m (118-148 lb-ft).
7. Remove wire supporting knuckle, caliper and upper control arm.
8. Install lower shock absorbe1r mount bolt and nut and tighten nut to 150-162 N-m (110-120 lb-ft).
9. Remove jack and jackstands.
10. Remove spring cages.
11. Connect parking brake cable at caliper.
12. Install rear stabilizer bar links and retaining nuts at both ends of bar.
13. Install rear wheel and tire assembly.
