TRANSMISSION - AOD - REVERSE SHUDDER WHEN BACKING UP AN INCLINE OR WHEN BACKING UP UNDER A LOAD

FORD:
1991-93 THUNDERBIRD

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 
1991-93 COUGAR

ISSUE:
A reverse shudder may occur when backing up an incline or when backing up under a load. This usually happens early in the life of the transmission
when the transmission fluid temperature is higher than normal.

ACTION:
Install a service kit which contains a revised planet support and reverse gear assembly. Refer to the Thunderbird/Cougar Service Manual, Section 17-20
for 1991 models and Section 07-01 for 1992/93 models, for removal and installation procedures.
