Thunderbird V8-4.6L VIN W (1997)
1. Remove instrument panel.
2. Remove three screws retaining LH EVAP register duct to instrument panel and remove duct.
Installation
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
RH Duct
Removal
1. Remove instrument panel.
2. Remove windshield defroster hose nozzle.
3. Remove screw retaining RH A/C side window demister and hose and wiring to the heater air plenum chamber.
4. Unscrew flexible LH A/C side window demister and hose from the plenum center register assembly.
5. Remove three screws retaining heater air plenum chamber assembly to instrument panel.
6. Remove three screws retaining RH AC EVAP register duct and remove.
Installation
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
A/C Recirculating Air
Removal
1. Remove A/C evaporator housing.
2. Remove three screws and pull A/C recirculating air duct from A/C evaporator housing.
Installation
1. Position A/C recirculating air duct on A/C evaporator housing and install three screws.
2. Install A/C evaporator housing.
A/C Side Window Demisters and Hoses
LH Side
Removal
1. Remove instrument panel.
2. Remove two screws retaining LH A/C side window demister and hose.
3. Remove two screws retaining LH demister tube to instrument panel.
4. Remove LH A / C side window demister and hose from instrument panel.
Installation
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
RH Side
Removal
1. Remove instrument panel. Remove grille from RH side of instrument panel.
2. Remove two retaining screws from RH A/C side window demister and hose.
3. Remove two screws retaining demister tube to top of instrument panel.
4. Remove one screw retaining demister tube assembly to heater air plenum chamber and remove RH A/C side window demister and hose from
instrument panel.
Installation
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
Heater Outlet Floor
Removal
1. Remove instrument panel.
2. Remove two screws retaining the heater outlet floor duct to the A/C evaporator housing assembly just below the A/C heat distribution duct.
3. Pull the heater outlet floor duct away from the A/C evaporator housing.
Installation
1. To install, position the heater outlet floor duct to the A/C evaporator housing. Make sure the retainer at the forward edge of the duct is inserted
over the edge of the opening in the heater outlet floor duct and install the two retaining screws.
2. Install instrument panel.
Rear Seat Air Flow
Removal
1. Remove floor console panel.
2. Remove six screws retaining floor console glove compartment to floor console panel.
