Steering Wheel: Testing and Inspection
Turning Effort Check
NOTE: Make sure the front wheels are properly aligned and tire pressure is correct before checking turning effort.
1. Park vehicle on dry concrete and set the parking brake.
2. Idle the engine for two or three minutes. Turn the steering wheel to the left and right several times to warm the fluid to 43-49°C (110-120°F).
3. With the engine running, attach a pull scale to the rim of the steering wheel. Starting with the wheels in straight-ahead position, measure the pull
required to turn the steering wheel one complete revolution in each direction. Refer to the static steering wheel turning effort specification.
