REMOVAL
WARNING: THESE VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH GAS-PRESSURIZED SHOCK ABSORBERS WHICH WILL EXTEND
UNASSISTED. DO NOT APPLY HEAT OR FLAME TO THE SHOCK ABSORBER TUBE DURING REMOVAL.
CAUTION: The rear shock absorbers act as the rebound stops for the rear suspension. When rear shock absorbers are removed, the rear
suspension arm and bushings must be restrained to prevent damage to these components. The best method for rear shock absorber removal is to
use a drive-on hoist or alignment pit.
1. Position vehicle on drive-on hoist or alignment pit, or use an equivalent method of supporting the vehicle on its suspension.
2. Remove all upper retaining parts from inside luggage compartment.
3. Remove bolt and nut at rear suspension arm and bushing.
4. Remove rear shock absorber.
