Removal and Installation
Remove

1. Raise the vehicle and remove the front road wheel.

2. Remove the flexible brake pipe from the shock absorber.

NOTE:

The top caliper retaining bolt cannot be completely disengaged but does allow the caliper to be removed.

3. Remove the brake caliper.
   Suspend the caliper to prevent damage to the flexible brake hose.

CAUTION:

The left hand bearing adjusting nut has a left hand thread.

4. Remove the hub assembly.
1. Remove the dust cap.
2. Remove the split pin and nut retainer.
3. Remove the wheel bearing adjusting nut.
4. Remove the washer and hub assembly complete with the outer bearing.

5. Remove the hub from the disc.
   Bend back the retaining bolt locking tabs.
6. Clean the mating faces of the hub and the disc.
Install

7. Refit the hub to the disc.
   Bend up the retaining bolt locking tabs.

CAUTION:

The left hand bearing adjusting nut has a left hand thread.

8. Refit the hub assembly.
1. Refit the washer and hub assembly complete with the outer bearing.
2. Refit the wheel bearing adjusting nut.

9. Refit the brake caliper.
10. Refit the flexible brake pipe to the shock absorber.
11. Check the front disc run‐out as described in Operation No. 12 221 0.
12. Install the road wheel, refer to specifications for the wheel nut torque.

13. Set up the wheel bearing end float.
1. Tighten the wheel bearing adjusting nut whilst rotating the wheel to accurately seat the bearings.
2. Slacken the adjusting nut by 180° and rock the wheel to settle the suspension.
3. Push and pull the wheel horizontally to feel the bearing end float.
4. If necessary slacken the adjusting nut by another 90° until end float is felt.
5. Measure the end float (End float should be 0,002 to 0,05 mm).
6. If necessary turn the adjusting nut either way to achieve the required end float.
14. Refit the nut retainer with a new split pin and the dust cap.
15. Lower the vehicle.
