12-014Caliper Piston Expander
Remove

1. Raise the vehicle and remove the front road wheel.

2. Remove the caliper slider pin bolt plastic cup.

3. Expose the pads.
1. Remove the caliper slider pin bolt.
2. Hinge the caliper assembly upwards.

NOTE:

If the piston boots are burned or torn, they must be replaced.

4. Remove the inner and outer brake pads.

NOTE:

Retracting the caliper piston will cause brake fluid to return to the master cylinder reservoir.

5. Carefully push back the caliper piston to its fully retracted position.

6. When fitting new pads remove the pad spring from the caliper.
7. Clean any brake dust from the area.
Install
8. When fitting new pads fit a new pad spring.
9. Check that both the pads are of the correct type and that disc faces are free from grease, oil or dirt.
10. When fitting new pads remove the backing sheet from the pad noise insulator.
11. Refit the inner and outer brake pads.

12. Refit the caliper assembly.
1. Hinge the caliper assembly downwards.
2. Refit the caliper slider pin bolt.
13. Refit the caliper slider pin bolt plastic cup.
14. Apply the footbrake to adjust the brake pads.
15. Install the road wheel, refer to specifications for the wheel nut torque.
16. Lower the vehicle.
17. Check the master cylinder fluid level and top up if necessary.
