Removal and Installation

CAUTION:

Care must be taken to avoid spilling brake fluid onto painted surfaces. If spillage occurs it must be washed off immediately with cold water.

Remove

1. Disconnect the battery earth lead.

2. Remove the reservoir filler cap.
1. Disconnect the fluid level warning indicator multiplug.
2. Unscrew the filler cap.

3. Using a suitable syringe remove as much fluid as possible from the reservoir.

4. On diesel variants disconnect the fluid return pipes.
   Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

NOTE:

Blank off the pipes to prevent any dirt ingress.

5. Disconnect the brake fluid pipes.

CAUTION:

Before removing the master cylinder ensure that the servo vacuum is exhausted. This may be done by removing the vacuum pipe from the servo.

6. Remove the master cylinder.
Install

7. Refit the master cylinder.
   Ensure that vacuum seal is in place and that the mating faces are clean.

8. Reconnect the brake fluid pipes.
9. On diesel variants refit the fluid return pipes.
10. Reconnect the battery earth lead.
11. Bleed the brake system as described in Operation No. 12 141 0.
