Removal and Installation

CAUTION:

Care must be taken to avoid spilling brake fluid onto painted surfaces. If spillage occurs it must be washed off immediately with cold water.

Remove

1. Disconnect the battery earth lead.

2. Disconnect the brake fluid level warning indicator multiplug.

3. On diesel variants disconnect the fluid return pipes.
   Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

NOTE:

Blank off the pipes to prevent any dirt ingress.

4. Disconnect the brake fluid pipes from the master cylinder.
   Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

5. Carefully remove the servo vacuum hose connection.

6. Remove the clevis pin and spring clip from the brake pedal servo operating push rod.

7. Remove the stop lamp switch.
1. Disconnect the switch multiplug.
2. Twist the switch through 90° and remove the switch.

8. Remove the servo and master cylinder assembly.

9. Separate the master cylinder from the servo.
Install

10. Refit the servo.
11. Refit the servo operating push rod to the brake pedal.

12. Refit and adjust the stop lamp switch.
1. Slide in the switch until the plunger is compressed.
2. Twist the switch clockwise to lock in position.
3. Reconnect the multiplug.

13. Refit the master cylinder to the servo.
   Ensure that vacuum seal is in place and that the mating faces are clean.
14. On diesel variants reconnect the fluid return pipes.
15. Reconnect the fluid pipes to the master cylinder.
16. Carefully refit the servo vacuum hose connection.
17. Reconnect the brake fluid level warning indicator multiplug.
18. Reconnect the battery earth lead.
19. Bleed the brake system as described in Operation No. 12 141 0.
