Removal and Installation
Remove

1. Disconnect the battery earth lead.

2. Where fitted, remove the pressure switch.
1. Disconnect the pressure switch multiplug.
2. Remove the pressure switch.
Petrol engine variants only

3. Disconnect and remove the pipe and hose from the power steering pump.
1. Remove the pipe clamp bolt.
2. Remove the high pressure pipe.
3. Remove the low pressure hose.
• Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
Diesel engine variants without air conditioning or PTC only

4. Disconnect and remove the pipe and hose from the power steering pump.
1. Remove the high pressure pipe clamp bolt.
2. Disconnect the high pressure pipe.
3. Disconnect the low pressure hose.
• Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
Diesel engine variants with air conditioning or PTC only

5. Disconnect and remove the pipe and hose from the power steering pump.
1. Remove the high pressure pipe clamp bolt.
2. Disconnect the high pressure pipe.
3. Disconnect the low pressure hose.
• Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
Diesel engine variants.

6. Disconnect the fluid reservoir hoses.
1. Push in the hose connector releasing clips.
2. Pull out the hoses.
Petrol engine variants.

7. Disconnect the fluid reservoir hoses.

NOTE:

Whenever steering gear unions are disconnected the steering gear and pipes must be plugged to prevent dirt ingress.

8. Remove the power steering pipe locking plate and remove pipes from pinion housing.
   Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

9. Disconnect the power steering pipes from the steering gear.
10. Lift out the hoses.
Install

11. Where necessary, replace the union sealing rings.
1. Push the sealing ring onto the tool.
2. Locate the tool on the union and push on the sealing ring.
12. Locate the hoses.
13. Secure the power steering pipes to the steering gear.

14. Refit the power steering pipes to the pinion housing and secure the locking plate.
15. Reconnect the fluid reservoir hoses.
Petrol engine variants only

16. Reconnect the pipe and hose to the power steering pump.
1. Refit the low pressure hose.
2. Refit the pipe clamp bolt.
3. Refit the high pressure pipe.
Diesel engine variants without air conditioning or PTC only

17. Reconnect the pipe and hose to the power steering pump.
1. Reconnect the high pressure pipe.
2. Reconnect the low pressure hose.
3. Refit the high pressure pipe clamp bolt.
Diesel engine variants with air conditioning or PTC only

18. Reconnect the pipe and hose to the power steering pump.
1. Refit the high pressure pipe clamp bolt.
2. Reconnect the high pressure pipe.
3. Reconnect the low pressure hose.

19. Where fitted, refit the pressure switch.
1. Refit the pressure switch.
2. Reconnect the pressure switch multiplug.
20. Reconnect the battery earth lead.
21. Bleed the power steering system as described in Operation No. 13 416 1.
