When filling or topping up the reservoir, care should be taken to ensure that the fluid is clean and not agitated prior to use. The fluid must be poured slowly into the reservoir to minimise the possibility of aeration.
1. Top up the reservoir to the `max cold' mark.
NOTE:
Ensure that the fluid in the reservoir does not fall below the minimum mark. On no account must the fluid level be allowed to drop sufficient for air to enter the system.
2. Start the engine and slowly turn the steering wheel from lock to lock.
3. Check the system for leaks.
Examine the hose connections, steering rack gaiters and valve body for external leaks.
4. Switch off the engine and recheck the fluid level; top up if necessary.
