Removal and Installation

CAUTION:

If both bracket bushes require removal, remove and install one bracket at a time. Removing both brackets may upset the steering geometry.
Remove
1. Raise the vehicle.

2. Remove the stabiliser bar bracket.

3. Disconnect the front bracket from the chassis.

4. Remove the lower arm from the front bracket.
1. Remove the lower arm to front bracket nut and bolt.
2. Remove the dished washer.

5. Remove the front bracket from the crossmember.

6. Remove the crossmember to chassis front retaining bolt.
7. Remove the front bracket.

8. Press out the bush.
Install
9. Apply a thin coating of new engine oil to the new bush and the bore of the bracket.

10. Refit the bush.
11. Check that the bush lips protrude from either side of the bracket bore.
12. If necessary push the bush further in using a suitable spacer.
13. Repair any bare metal on the bracket with suitable paint.

14. Locate the front bracket into the crossmember.
   Ensure that the bracket dowel engages in the crossmember hole.

15. Refit the lower arm to the front bracket.
1. Refit the dished washer.
• The convex face of the washer should face the bush.
2. Refit the lower arm to front bracket nut and bolt.
• Do not tighten at this stage.

16. Refit the crossmember to chassis front retaining bolt.
   Do not tighten at this stage.

17. Refit the front bracket to the crossmember.
   Do not tighten at this stage.

18. Reconnect the front bracket to the chassis.

19. Tighten the crossmember to chassis front retaining bolt.

20. Tighten the bolts securing the front bracket to the crossmember.

21. Refit the stabiliser bar bracket.
22. Lower the vehicle.

23. Tighten the bolt securing the lower arm to the front bracket.
