Removal and Installation
Remove

WARNING:

Wait at least 15 minutes after disconnecting the battery before disconnecting the electronic air bag control module multiplug, for all other supplementary restraint system multiplugs wait two minutes. If these times are not observed there may be the possibility of accidentally deploying the air bag(s) and the pyrotechnic seat belt pretensioners.

WARNING:

Do not use a radio keycode saver when working on the supplementary restraint system (SRS). Make sure that the radio keycode and station presets are noted before disconnecting the battery.

CAUTION:

Disconnect the battery negative lead.

1. Detach the air bag module.
   Turn the steering wheel to undo the two captive Torx retaining screws from the rear of the steering wheel.

2. Remove the air bag module.
   Disconnect the air bag module multiplug.

WARNING:

Always carry air bag modules with the coverside uppermost, and away from the body. Do not attempt to open or repair air bag modules. Do not use multimeter or attempt to apply power to air bag modules. Do not expose air bag modules to heat sources in excess of 100°C.

3. Remove the module from the vehicle.
Install

CAUTION:

Make sure that the inflator wiring is correctly routed.

4. Refit the components in reverse order.
