ISSUE:
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) pump motor may run while applying the brake when turning and driving over a bump. This may be due to the ABS
Electronic Control Unit (ECU) detecting a decrease in wheel speed during these conditions and activating the ABS pump motor.
ACTION:
Replace the ECU with the revised calibration ECU (F68Z-2C219-CC). Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
NOTE:
THIS PROCEDURE IS ONLY APPLICABLE TO WINDSTARS EQUIPPED WITH TRACTION CONTROL.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Check the ABS module for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Diagnose and resolve any DTCs found before continuing to the next Step.
2.
Review and follow the pinpoint test for ABS over-sensitivity in the appropriate Windstar Service Manual, Section 06-09. Resolve any concerns
found while performing this pinpoint test and re-evaluate the vehicle.
3.
If the concern still exists, replace the ECU (F68Z-2C219-CC).
