Brake Drum: Testing and Inspection
1. Inspect the inside of the brake drum for scratches and uneven or abnormal wear.
2. Repair minor damage or replace the brake drum if damage is excessive.
3. Measure the inside diameter of the brake drum using Rotunda Brake Drum Micrometer 104-00046 or equivalent. Measure at several points around
the inside of the brake drum to detect an out-of-round condition.
NOTE: Measure the brake drum at the bottom of the deepest groove to check the maximum inside diameter.
4. The standard brake drum inner diameter is 250 mm (9.84 inches). Replace the brake drum if the diameter is more than 251.5mm (9.90 inches).
