Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect 24-pin connector from anti-lock brake control module.
2. Disconnect 2-pin power and ground connector from anti-lock brake control module.
3. Remove two tubes from inlet ports and four tubes from outlet ports of Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).
4. Remove three attaching bolts retaining Electronic Hydraulic Control Unit (EHCU) assembly to the mounting bracket and lower EHCU assembly

down and out of engine compartment.

5. Separate the anti-lock brake control module from the hydraulic control unit (HCU) by removing the four T25H Torx(R) head screws and the pump

motor harness connector. Do not pry apart, carefully detach the anti-lock brake control module from the HCU by pulling straight apart.

INSTALLATION

1. Reattach anti-lock brake control module to the HCU by carefully lining up the coils with the solenoid valves and push together. Install the four

T25H Torx(R) head screws and torque to 4-5 Nm (31-44 in lb). Reconnect the pump motor harness connector.

2. Reinstall EHCU assembly into mounting bracket and install three retaining bolts. Tighten to 8-11 Nm (71-97 in lb).
3. Connect four tubes to outlet ports and two tubes to the inlet ports. Tighten tube fittings to 15-20 Nm (11-14 ft lb).
4. Connect 2-pin connector to anti-lock brake control module.
5. Connect 24-pin connector to anti-lock brake control module.
6. Bleed brake system as described in the ABS service bleed procedure.
