ISSUE:
The radiator may leak coolant on some vehicles in below freezing ambient temperatures. This may be due to seal performance in the area between the
radiator end tank and the radiator core assembly.
ACTION:
Remove the radiator and replace with an improved Radiator (F78Z-8005-CA). The replacement radiator has a revised seal between the radiator end tank
and the radiator core assembly. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Perform cooling system diagnosis by referring to the appropriate year Windstar Service Manual, Section 03-03.
NOTE:
RECRIMPING THE RADIATOR SIDE TANKS IS NOT AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR.
2.
If the radiator is leaking coolant at the side tank-to-core seal, or has previous confirmed coolant leaks in below freezing temperatures, replace the
Radiator (F78Z-8005-CA). Refer to the appropriate year Windstar Service Manual, Section 03-03.
3.
Service other cooling system concerns as identified in Step 1.
