Camshaft: Service and Repair

NOTE:  Engine removal is necessary for this procedure.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1. Remove timing cover and timing chain.
2. Remove lifters.
3. Remove camshaft thrust plate.
4. Remove camshaft from front of engine, ensuring not to damage bearings or lobes.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Lubricate cam lobes and bearings with suitable lubricant.
b. Ensure balance shaft timing is correct.
d. Connect battery ground cable.
