AIR CONDITIONING - WATER DRIPPING ONTO
FLOOR FROM DRAIN TUBE DURING A/C SYSTEM
OPERATION
LIGHT TRUCK:
1995-97 WINDSTAR
ISSUE:
Water may drip through the evaporator drain seal and onto the floor while the A/C system is operating. This may be caused by insufficient sealing
between the evaporator case drain seal and the instrument panel and/or insufficient evaporator drain tube length.
ACTION:
Install an extension hose onto the end of the drain tube. The extension hose should route water away from the seal to reduce the possibility of water
leaking through the seal. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
With the vehicle on the ground, open the hood and locate the evaporator drain tube on the passenger side of the instrument panel.
2.
On 3.8L engines, remove the coil pack from the top of the engine on the passenger side. Removing the coil pack will allow the necessary access to
perform the following procedure.
3.
Using an X-acto knife, trim away the two (2) small barbs located on the outside end of the drain tube.
