LIGHT TRUCK:
1995-97 WINDSTAR
ISSUE:
A "chirping" noise is heard during normal engine operation on some vehicles. This may be caused by the flanges of the power steering pump pulley
interfering with the Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) belt.
ACTION:
Replace the power steering pump pulley with a revised Pulley (F78Z-3A733-AA). Refer to the 1997 Windstar Service Manual, Sections 03-05 and 11-02
for FEAD belt and pulley information.
NOTE:
THE REVISED POWER STEERING PUMP PULLEY SHOULD BE PRESSED FLUSH WITH THE PUMP SHAFT, WITHIN 12.5 mm (0.10").
NOTE:
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO REMOVE THE POWER STEERING HOSE AS SPECIFIED IN THE SERVICE MANUAL REPAIR
PROCEDURE.
