Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove Ignition Control Module (ICM) water shield by disengaging the locking tab, located on the bottom rear of the shield, and sliding the
shield upward.
3. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring connector at the ICM by pressing down on the locking tab where it is stamped PUSH and remove the
connector.
4. Remove ignition control module lower retaining screw and ignition control module from the RH front fender apron.
INSTALLATION
1. Position ignition control module to the RH front fender apron. Insert upper mounting tab of ignition control module into teardrop hole and install
lower retaining screw. Tighten retaining screw to 3.4-4.8 Nm (30-42 in lb).
2. Connect engine control sensor wiring connector to ignition control module.
3. Install water shield by sliding it down until locking tabs engage.
4. Connect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control
Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
