Wiper Switch: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove two screws holding lower instrument panel cover, then remove panel.
3. Remove three screws holding lower instrument panel reinforcement, then remove reinforcement.
4. On models with tilt steering column unscrew and remove tilt handle.
5. On all models remove three screws holding lower shroud, then remove shroud.
6. Remove ignition lock.
7. Remove headlight switch.
8. Pull out ash tray to access and remove two screws holding lower center dash panel trim, then use a wide blade flat screwdriver pry out and remove

panel.

9. Remove two screws holding instrument cluster left hand lower trim panel, then pry out and remove.

10. Pry up and hold left end of dash panel center trim, then pry up and remove right hand instrument cluster lower trim.
11. Remove upper steering column shroud.
12. Remove screws holding combination switch to column, then disengage switch from column.
13. Disconnect electrical connectors from combination switch, using care not to damage connector lock tabs and shift indicator cable.
14. Reverse procedure to install.

NOTE:  Vehicle specific information about operation, stored in PCM using battery backed up memory, may be lost when battery is disconnected.
If this occurs poor engine performance, stalling and other driveability problems may occur. It may be necessary to drive the vehicle for up to 10
miles to allow the PCM to relearn this information.
